The open living room with large fireplace immediately gives you the feeling of coming home. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to prepare a delicious meal. Kitchen equipment: stove, refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker, toaster, press and mixer.
There are 3 bedrooms upstairs and these have beautiful classic wooden ceilings and the windows give a fantastic view over the rolling hills of the Dordogne. There is 1 bathroom and a separate toilet. There is also a shared utility room with washing machine and centrifuge.
The Games Room on the domaine has a billiards table, table tennis, puzzles, games, TV with Disney videos and toys; something for all ages. Fitness equipment is also available.
Outside
The heated enclosed swimming pool is the place where you can relax. If you want to seek shade, you can do so on the terrace while your children play in the pool. There is also a barbecue area, many board games, table tennis, volleyball, badminton, croquet. In the garden you will find the love of flowers, which leads to a beautiful palette of colours.
All services are within walking distance: 1 km to boulangerie, grocery store, medical center and bank. 2 km to news agents, post office, and the office of tourism. 2.5km to a swimming lake.
The magnificent Chateau de Hautefort is an easy 2km walk from the house. This spectacular 17c castle is famous for its architecture, gardens, and is open to the public.
The very pretty Auvezere Valley has the charming villages of Hautefort, St Agnan, and Tourtoirac. St Agnan has a summer night market every Thursday night that has music, dancing, barbeque, and vendors. It’s a charming way to spend an evening under the stars. Grotte de Tourtoirac (it is really beautiful - wheelchair access). There are many famous tourist sites: grottes (caves), Troglodyte sites, Bastille towns, Castles, and old villages are less than 1-hour drive away (Lascaux is only 20 minutes).Valley’s with castles where one can easily imagine bandits, knights in armor and the primitive life of the peasants.
Gastronomy
Perigord is THE place to go if you love food! Truffles, foie gras, and canard. This little corner of Southwest France is home to the black truffle, one of the most famous and expensive luxury foods of France. (Truffle Markets are open in Winter!) It is also the land of foie gras-- that typical French delicacy made from fattened goose or duck liver, along with other Canard specialty dishes. We have many excellent restaurants in the area. The wine regions of Bergerac and Bordeaux are only a short drive away.
Activities
Hautefort is a great bicycling and walking area with rolling hillsides and lovely forest and valley views. Many sporting activities are available in the area: tennis, foot, basketball, horse riding, bocce, canoeing, fishing, hunting, hot air ballooning, caving, climbing, etc..
