Maison Montruf is a beautiful holiday home in the Dordogne for 8 people with heated pool. The house has been lovingly restored and is ideally suited for large families or friendship groups. There are 5 spacious bedrooms, all with ensuite bathrooms. Maison Montruf is located in a small hamlet of Peyzac Le Moustier that overlooks the valley of the Vézère River.
Description
Maison Montruf is a very luxurious holiday home and is fully equipped to a very high standard and is now exclusively for rent for a limited period in the summer. The house is located at the end of a short lane and the automatic gates give access to the property which is private and secured.
The kitchen (40 m2) is fully equipped including a cook island with modern German appliances (induction hob, indoor grill, large oven and microwave) that allows you to turn the great local produce into fantastic meals. The built-in dishwasher then makes cleaning up easy. The kitchen patio is planted with a wide selection of fresh herbs for your use and we will provide you with some pantry supplies. The Delonghi coffee machine will provide you with that delicious coffee to complement your morning croissant.
The large kitchen table seats eight and is just one of four dining tables to choose from; the other three are located outdoors, the closest being on the galleried terrace.
Maison Montruf has two lounges. The upper lounge is located next to the kitchen and features red leather Chesterfield sofas, a British smart TV with Netflix and a DVD player, and a wireless Sonos system (there are five Sonos speakers in the house). The downstairs lounge is a wonderfully cool room with French doors leading to the garden. It has two large sofas, a bookcase, a TV monitor, a DVD player, a DVD and book library, and a games console. There's also a desk in case you can't completely escape those work emails or video calls (there are five wireless access points in the house to ensure Wi-Fi coverage despite the thick walls). You enter the lounge from the games room, which features a large pool table.
Maison Montruf has five bedrooms.
Bedroom 1 is the master suite and is located on the ground floor. Originally the kitchen of one of the houses, it features a large fireplace and an old stone sink, as well as a painted arched window. A super-king-size bed, separate dressing room, and ensuite bathroom with a walk-in shower and roll-top bath complete the master suite.
Bedrooms 2, 3, and 4 are located on the first floor and both have beamed ceilings with chandeliers and ensuite shower rooms. Bedroom 2 has two single beds, while bedrooms 3 and 4 have a king-size bed. There is also an additional family shower room on this floor.
Bedroom 5 is also located on the ground floor. It has a large fireplace and a private entrance to the lower garden. This bedroom also has a large ensuite bathroom with a walk-in shower.
The pigeonnier is located just off the kitchen and contains the cloakroom, toilet, and a ladder leading to a small balcony with beautiful views over the valley and the garden. Here, two people can sit and enjoy reading a book or watching the sunset.
Outside
Outside, there's a large, private, heated saltwater pool (12 x 5 meters) with a safety cover and a sun terrace overlooking the Vézère Valley. The terrace, with its retractable awning, is located off the kitchen and overlooks the pool and garden. It's a great place to have lunch or breakfast. Other dining tables are in the garden, one covered in the open barn and the other on the lawn by the ruin. The utility room, with direct access to the pool, houses a washing machine, dryer, and, most importantly, a wine and drinks cooler—after all, you're on holiday. The 1-hectare garden is fully fenced (to keep wildlife out). Ample sun loungers, chairs, and parasols are provided by the pool, making it an ideal place to spend the day.
Because Maison Montruf is situated on a west-facing hill, the garden offers some fantastic views. It's also a haven for birds and insects. Some birds nest in the walls of the house and barn, others in the trees in the undergrowth, and countless insects feed on the lavender plants that thrive here in France. If you're lucky, you might hear a Golden Oriel, and you're sure to hear the local nuthatches and woodpeckers. You might also spot small lizards sunbathing on the garden walls. The grounds also feature the ruins of the original village. The classroom of the old schoolhouse is an ideal spot for a ping-pong table.
