Looking for a charming holiday home in the Dordogne with a pool? Les Fontenelles de Mandacou is a lovely, single-story gîte in a beautiful location between Bergerac and Issigeac. The gîte features a covered terrace with a barbecue and has access to a large 10 x 5 meter swimming pool. Thanks to its location near Issigeac, Eymet, and Bergerac, there are plenty of opportunities for charming markets, restaurants, wine tastings, and excursions.
Description
Through the spacious hall, you enter the bright and cozy living room, which provides direct access to your own garden. The kitchen is fully equipped and has every convenience, including a dishwasher and a convection oven. From the kitchen, you can walk straight onto the covered terrace, where two cozy seating areas and a built-in barbecue are ready for use.
The summers in the Dordogne are long and pleasant, so eating outdoors is an essential part of the experience here. A delicious meal from the barbecue, a good glass of local wine, and pure enjoyment! The gîte features a bedroom with a comfortable double bed and a living/sleeping area with a good sofa bed for two people. Free Wi-Fi is available. There is a smart TV in the living room on which you can receive French and Dutch channels. You can also use your own subscription to access Netflix.
For a relaxing stay, reading books and a few board games are available. Outside, you will also find a box with real pétanque balls, so you can play a game of boules. The bathroom features a shower and a sink. There is a separate toilet. The washing machine is located in the toilet area. All rooms in the gîte are located on the ground floor. Please note that there is a step at the entrance. The bathroom is not easily accessible for wheelchair users.

Outside
The 10 x 5 meter swimming pool is located at the base of the house and is shared with the owners. Les Fontenelles de Mandacou is a characteristic, detached house approximately forty years old, built in the charming stone style. The owners, Guus and Janet, live in the upper part of the house. The gîte is situated half a floor lower and has its own veranda offering ample privacy. The house faces entirely south and stands on a spacious plot of no less than 5,000 m². Behind the house, on the north side, lies a beautiful oak forest. The location on a quiet D-road ensures that you can fully enjoy the peace and space here.
Cancellation Conditions
The owner will charge the following amounts, depending on the date of written cancellation by the renter:
For cancellation up to 90 days (exclusive) before the start of the rental period: free of charge
For cancellation from 90 days (inclusive) to 42 days (exclusive) before the start of the rental period: 30% of the rental price
For cancellation from 42 days (inclusive) to 28 days (exclusive) before the start of the rental period: 50% of the rental price
For cancellation from 28 days (inclusive) to 14 days (exclusive) before the start of the rental period: 75% of the rental price
For cancellation from 14 days (inclusive) before the start of the rental period: 100% of the rental price
If the renter notifies the Lessor only on the day of the start of the rental period or during the rental period that they will no longer be making use of the rented property, the Lessee remains liable for the full rental price.
Issigeac, a beautiful medieval village known primarily for its atmospheric Sunday market, is located about 5 kilometers away. This market attracts visitors from the entire surrounding area and is a wonderful place to discover local products and French specialties. The bastide villages of Castillonnès (7 km) and Eymet (12 km) are also nearby. Here you will find shops, restaurants, cafes, and cozy terraces.
For a day trip to the city, you can reach Bergerac, situated on the Dordogne River, in about 25 minutes. The historic city center is charming and offers lovely shops, restaurants, and terraces. From Bergerac, you can also take a trip on a traditional gabarre along the Dordogne.
The surrounding area is excellent for hiking and cycling. Canoeing, golfing, and various other outdoor activities are also available.
Wine, markets, and regional dishes
Food and wine lovers will feel right at home here. In the surrounding villages and towns, you will find plenty of restaurants where you can enjoy typical regional dishes featuring truffles, walnuts, plums, duck, and foie gras, among others.
A well-known local specialty is the sweet Monbazillac wine, which pairs wonderfully with foie gras. In the immediate vicinity, you will find various wineries and châteaux where you can visit the cellars and, of course, taste the local wines.
In the spring and summer, flea markets are regularly organized in the surrounding villages. Furthermore, during the summer months, there are charming "marchés gourmands": atmospheric evening markets where you can enjoy all kinds of local specialties on the spot.
