The magnificent Chateau de Hautefort is an easy 2km walk from the house. This spectacular 17c castle is famous for its architecture, gardens, and is open to the public.
The very pretty Auvezere Valley has the charming villages of Hautefort, St Agnan, and Tourtoirac. St Agnan has a summer night market every Thursday night that has music, dancing, barbeque, and vendors. It’s a charming way to spend an evening under the stars. Grotte de Tourtoirac (it is really beautiful - wheelchair access). There are many famous tourist sites: grottes (caves), Troglodyte sites, Bastille towns, Castles, and old villages are less than 1-hour drive away (Lascaux is only 20 minutes).Valley’s with castles where one can easily imagine bandits, knights in armor and the primitive life of the peasants.

Gastronomy
Perigord is THE place to go if you love food! Truffles, foie gras, and canard. This little corner of Southwest France is home to the black truffle, one of the most famous and expensive luxury foods of France. (Truffle Markets are open in Winter!) It is also the land of foie gras-- that typical French delicacy made from fattened goose or duck liver, along with other Canard specialty dishes. We have many excellent restaurants in the area. The wine regions of Bergerac and Bordeaux are only a short drive away.

Activities
Hautefort is a great bicycling and walking area with rolling hillsides and lovely forest and valley views. Many sporting activities are available in the area: tennis, foot, basketball, horse riding, bocce, canoeing, fishing, hunting, hot air ballooning, caving, climbing, etc..

Perfect for families
It was the third summer we stayed with Renata and Larry and we just can't get enough of the place. Our two little girls love the castles and caves in the area. The garden is so big and everywhere you look there are flowers blooming. Even when there is another family in the other house you still have plenty of room to have a calm and peaceful holiday. We will certainly be back!

Tip: The American Breakfast they serve (upon request) is to die for!

A wonderful place.
Wisteria oozed charm and we loved its rustic feel. It was well equipped and certainly met more than our needs, not to mention the family games room with pool table which led to family/friends tournament over the couple of weeks! Also a gym which our son used when he came to join us with his girlfriend. The pool was just perfect for cooling off after sunbathing. The views were beautiful and the garden and BBQ area a delight.

Renata was a most warm and welcoming host. She made us feel it was no trouble in answering our numerous questions about the area and was ready to give suggestions on places to visit.

We would recommend this gite without hesitation. We may even return!

My 14 year old son and I spent one week in La Petite Rose in July 2016, and we felt right at home. Properties are well equipped Grounds are pretty and well maintained with plenty of games equipment for all ages and play areas for children. The pool is very safe and fenced.

The surrounding area is rural France at its best. It is quiet and peaceful and is ideal for a relaxing holiday. There are several towns and markets within easy travelling distance and numerous attractions and places to suit all tastes. The Barnes family were the perfect hosts, very attentive ,and always there when you need them.

Our little bit of summer paradise!
“Les Gites Fleuris “is in the beautiful and pretty countryside around Hautefort
We stayed for 2 weeks in June 2016 at the “La Petit Rose “, it was absolutely perfect from beginning to end. Renata and her family made us feel so welcome and at home, providing us with lots of valuable information on fantastic places to visit , great days out, local cuisine, canoeing on the Dordogne river and walks around the area.
If you didn’t wish to go sightseeing, there was a pool area with decking and sun loungers, badminton and table tennis, a games room and gym. We enjoyed most evenings relaxing on our patio, in the pretty garden enjoying the views having a BBQ.
We would definitely recommend this gorgeous Gite to anyone who likes sightseeing and relaxing in the beautiful countryside with a friendly host, great food, warm weather with lots of things to do and see, it was simply perfect in every way. We have to say it was one of the best holidays we have ever had and we wish we could have stayed longer. We enjoyed it so much we are planning to go back next year.

Charming cottage with perfect hosts in magical Perigord
The little Rose Cottage is something out of a fairy tale, so charming and cosy with everything you could want for your visit. The kitchen is perfectly equiped for any culinary adventures, and with a well stocked Intermarche nearby you can pick up wonderful ingredients. The Gite is on a proper farm and is so tranquil that one cannot help but sleep well. At the same time the wifi works great and you get the best of both the village and rural life. The hosts Renata and Larry are fantastic, they will do everything they can to make your stay perfect. I can highly recommend this gite to everyone. It is THE place to stay when you are in the area.

Wonderful Place and Hostess
We stayed in the little cottage. A family from Belgium was staying in the other one and they were very nice. Friendly and helpful owners. Renata had lots of advice for us on what to see and do. Clean, quaint cottage in a quiet village. Nearby amenities and tourist attractions. We would highly recommend Renata and Larry's cozy cottages.
