Description
Gite Le Coudoun is located in the Dordogne and is ideal for 2 people, a 3rd person is possible because of the presence of a sofa bed. The gite is a separate part of a former farm from the 18th century. It has its own entrance with a terrace on the south side and a wide view over a hilly landscape with meadows and forests. A paradise place because of the absolute peace and space.
The gite is modern and colorfully furnished, well insulated and equipped with every comfort, while retaining the characterful atmosphere associated with the French countryside. The swimming pool, which seems to blend into the landscape due to its round shape and natural stone edge, is filled with purified Dordogne water.
The gite has 2 rooms, both of approximately 40m².
On the ground floor you will find a dining area and a living room with a comfortable sofa bed and a nice spacious kitchen with oven, microwave, dishwasher and a 4-burner gas stove. In addition, you will find the shower room and a toilet. The stairs to the top are wide and easily accessible. You will find the bedroom on the 1st floor. The bed is 160x200 cm, electronically adjustable and, if desired, the beds can be separated. There is also a washbasin and the 2nd toilet. Due to the thick walls of 80 cm, it stays cool in the house for a long time, but there is an almost silent air conditioning (or heating) available, by means of a heat pump. There is also an electric radiator.
Outside
The terrain is 30,000 hectares and consists partly of forest and because hunting is not allowed there, deer are a regular guest.
In addition to a parasol, the proximity of trees offers protection against the sun, which can be fierce here in the summer.
The gite offers a lot of privacy, but the friendly Dutch owners are often present in another part of the house and garden. When there are guests we mainly use the terrace on the west side of the house.
Badefols-sur-Dordogne is a lovely town with about 200 inhabitants in the Perigord Pourpre (the color of the wine). Important: it has its own bakery and a prized restaurant with a view of the Dordogne. The nearest supermarket is 5 km away in Lalinde, a lively village with a very good butcher / caterer, bakers and catering establishments, not to mention a large market on Thursday morning. Lalinde also has a station with a direct connection to Bordeaux. The larger towns of Bergerac and Périgueux are 30 minutes and 1 hour away. Bergerac has an airport with, among other things, a connection to Rotterdam. In season almost daily.
Besides being known for its beautiful rolling countryside, its wine regions, [Pecharment , Monbazillac] truffles and other culinary delights, this is also the area of castles and “Bastides”.
In the summer there are often the cozy "tables de hôtes". Incidentally, they are also in many other villages. The bastides of Molière, Beaumont en Cadouin and St. Avit de Senieur are within 10 km. Monpazier and Belvès a little further away. The famous prehistoric caves of Lascaux are located towards Sarlat, about 40 km to the east. The lesser known, beautiful caves of Maxange are 10 km away. Lovers of canoeing, cycling and walking will find plenty to do here.
