Located in the charming hamlet of Badefols-sur-Dordogne, right in the green heart of the Dordogne, lies this atmospheric and luxurious gîte for 2 to 3 people: Gîte Le Coudoun. From the sunny south-facing terrace, you can enjoy sweeping views of the rolling landscape of meadows, forests, and valleys. Here, you experience the silence of the French countryside — only the rustling of the wind and the gentle sound of birds break the tranquility. The round swimming pool with a natural stone rim blends harmoniously into the landscape and is filled with purified water from the Dordogne. A unique place to fully relax under the South French sun.
Authentic holiday home with modern comfort
This characterful gîte is housed in a former 18th-century farmhouse and features a private entrance and plenty of privacy. The home is furnished in a modern and colorful style, while retaining authentic details so characteristic of the French countryside. With a living area of approximately 80 m² (divided into two rooms of about 40 m² each), this accommodation offers every comfort for a relaxing holiday in the Dordogne.
Ground floor
On the ground floor you will find:
A cozy dining area
A charming living room with a comfortable sofa bed (suitable for a 3rd person)
A spacious, fully equipped kitchen with oven, microwave, dishwasher, and 4-burner gas stove
A modern bathroom with shower
A separate toilet
First floor
A wide, easily accessible staircase leads to the bedroom on the first floor. Here, you will find a comfortable, electronically adjustable bed measuring 160 x 200 cm. If desired, this bed can be split into two separate beds. You will also find a vanity unit and a second toilet here.
Thanks to the 80 cm thick natural stone walls, the interior remains pleasantly cool, even during the warm summer months. Additionally, there is virtually silent air conditioning (heat pump) that can also provide heating, as well as an extra electric radiator.
Outdoor living in peace and space
The estate covers no less than 30 hectares and consists partly of forest. Because hunting is not permitted here, roe deer are regularly spotted — a special experience for nature lovers.
On the terrace, you will find a parasol and natural shade from surrounding trees, which is pleasant during the warm summer days in the South of France.
The gîte offers plenty of privacy. The friendly Dutch owners live in another part of the farmhouse and, when guests are present, primarily use the terrace on the west side, ensuring your peace and quiet remain guaranteed.

A romantic holiday in the Dordogne
Peace seekers and nature lovers
A luxury gîte with a swimming pool in France
A comfortable holiday home for 2 people (with the possibility for 3)

Badefols-sur-Dordogne is a lovely town with about 200 inhabitants in the Perigord Pourpre (the color of the wine). Important: it has its own bakery and a prized restaurant with a view of the Dordogne. The nearest supermarket is 5 km away in Lalinde, a lively village with a very good butcher / caterer, bakers and catering establishments, not to mention a large market on Thursday morning. Lalinde also has a station with a direct connection to Bordeaux. The larger towns of Bergerac and Périgueux are 30 minutes and 1 hour away. Bergerac has an airport with, among other things, a connection to Rotterdam. In season almost daily.
Besides being known for its beautiful rolling countryside, its wine regions, [Pecharment , Monbazillac] truffles and other culinary delights, this is also the area of castles and “Bastides”.
In the summer there are often the cozy "tables de hôtes". Incidentally, they are also in many other villages. The bastides of Molière, Beaumont en Cadouin and St. Avit de Senieur are within 10 km. Monpazier and Belvès a little further away. The famous prehistoric caves of Lascaux are located towards Sarlat, about 40 km to the east. The lesser known, beautiful caves of Maxange are 10 km away. Lovers of canoeing, cycling and walking will find plenty to do here. In the gite you will find information about what can be experienced in the Perigord/Dordorgne and what is worth visiting and that is a lot.
