The town Le Bugue offers supermarkets (Aldi, Lidl and a large Intermarché), restaurants, a large weekly market. In Le Bugue, you’ll find Le Bournat, a re-creation of 19th century village life with demonstrations of traditional crafts; le Gouffre de Proumeyssac (crystal cathedral); Aquarium du Périgord Noir and Bara Bahu (prehistoric caves). The surrounding area is full of beautiful medieval bastide villages, including Sarlat, Domme, Limeuil, Belves and Monpazier (four of “les plus beaux villages de France”).
A bit further: Perigueux, city of culture and history, and Bergerac with its wine museum; the famous castles Castelnaud, Milandes and Beynac, as well as the beautiful gardens at Meyssignac; many famous caves such as Lascaux, La Roque St Christophe, Grotte de Villars and the Grottes du Cazelle and Cap Blanc; Musee de Prehistoire at Les Eyzies (8km).
