Just 3 km from the old and beautiful town of Montignac-Lascaux you will find Domaine Le Sorbier. It is located in a small hamlet. The domaine stands for peace, privacy and pure relaxation! Domaine Le Sorbier is suitable for 10 people and consists of 2 houses and has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms and has a beautiful heated swimming pool!
Description
The domaine is available July and August. Both properties have been lovingly restored to a very high standard with attention to detail. Original features such as the large stone fireplace in the kitchen/dining room, beamed ceilings and exposed stonework have been restored giving the property an abundance of character. New wooden floors have been installed throughout and there is a wood-burning stove that provides warmth and a cozy atmosphere in winter. The great swimming pool which is heated, except July and August when heating is not necessary.
House
The house on Le Sorbier can accommodate 6 people. There is a spacious room with beautiful original stone fireplace with modern wood burner. The kitchen area has a large 6 ring oven hob with warming drawer, integrated dishwasher and American style fridge/freezer with water dispenser and ice maker. A large island provides storage space with a stainless steel worktop for food preparation. The kitchen is very well equipped, including a Bosch Nespresso machine. (A starter pack of coffee pods will be provided but guests should bring their preferred brand. The local supermarket has a good selection). The utility room is a practical room with washing machine, separate dryer, sink and toilet and coat rack. This is a useful area for wet shoes and boots. Adjacent to the utility room is a small library with a wide selection of books and games.
On the first and second floor you will find the 3 bedrooms.
Bedroom 1 is a spacious room with stone walls, exposed beams, fireplace and solid oak floors. The bed is super king size but can be split into two singles if required. There is ample storage in a double wardrobe and large chest of drawers. This room has a beautiful view over the front garden and the fields behind.
Bedroom 2 is a smaller double room overlooking the front garden and fields beyond. The bed is a double bed and there is a double wardrobe and bedside tables with drawers. The two bedrooms on the first floor share a bathroom with large shower cubicle with two separate shower heads. There is a shaver socket and a heated towel rail.
On the landing you will find patio doors to a balcony with a view of the backyard, the swimming pool and the fields / woods beyond. An external staircase leads to the garden. Oak staircase leads to the second floor.
Bedroom 3 is an attractive bedroom. There are many original beams and lovely views from the small front window overlooking fields. It is equipped with a double bed. This room has air conditioning that can be used as heating in winter. A large velux window makes this a bright and sunny room (blackout blind). This room has Ensuite a large shower cubicle with a shower with two shower heads.
Outside
To the rear of the house is a large sunny garden with pergola for shade and a table with seating for 10 people ideal for guests renting the house and gite together in July and August. There are many trees and shrubs that have transformed the garden into an attractive area. A staircase leads to the pool. The beautiful 12m x 4m swimming pool is surrounded by lavender plants. There are sun loungers for 10 people. The pool is heated with the exception of July and August when it is absolutely not necessary! There is a granite seat at the shallow end of the pool, ideal for small children to get used to the water.
Gite
Le Gite in Le Sorbier is a detached property 4p and has been sympathetically renovated to a high standard. Available from May to October. Double doors lead directly into the spacious open plan living/kitchen/dining room of approximately 42m². The kitchen has a fridge/freezer, oven and gas hob together with a washing machine and dishwasher. It is fully equipped with crockery, cutlery, pans and much more as well as a coffee maker, kettle and toaster. Double doors in the living room provide light and sun with views over the terrace and front fields. The living room has 2 comfortable sofas that provide enough seating for 4 people. The dining table seats 4 people. There is a TV on which you can watch British "freeview" programmes.
Open stairs lead to the first floor.
There are 2 bedrooms
Bedroom 1 is a room with a large velux window overlooking the fields. The window has a blackout blind. There is a super king size bed which can be split into two singles. There is a storage unit with hanging area and two chests of drawers for extra storage space. Bedroom 2 has a wooden bed. There is an open clothes hanging rack and a chest of drawers offering plenty of storage space. The ensuite shower room has a large shower (180cm x 60cm), again with two shower heads. There is an attractive bathroom cabinet for storage. This room has a velux window that provides light and ventilation
Outside
The gite has its own garden where you can sit in the shade or sun all day and there is a charcoal BBQ (charcoal not supplied). The beautiful 12m x 4m swimming pool is available for use and is just a few meters from the gite. If you only rent the gite, you share the pool with the owners.
There are sports fields at the front of the house and behind the swimming pool.
All reservations are Saturday to Saturday and holidays must be a multiple of 7 nights
The house is only available for 4 weeks in July and August and must be taken with the gite - which sleeps 10 people.
The gite alone is available from 29th April to 28th October 2023 with the exception of the 4 summer weeks when it must be taken with the house.
Prices include cleaning, all linen and towels, with the exception of pool towels which are not provided.
Guests in the gite share use of the swimming pool with the owners.
The owners live on site and have a friendly, well-behaved dog.
City taxes must be paid in cash upon arrival. In 2022, the costs per adult per week were € 10.15. No tax is payable for children under the age of 18.
Le Sorbier is a small hamlet just 3 km from the ancient and pretty town of Montignac-Lascaux, situated on the River Vézere in the Dordogne region of France. The house and gite are located in the quiet hamlet of Le Sorbier, and close to Montignac, where there is a good selection of shops, bars and restaurants. The Vezere Valley, also known for its history. The region is also known for its cuisine and beautiful nature. The area offers so much to discover: castles, markets, brocantes, prehistoric caves and much more. Montignac is a pretty town and is still lively in winter with a large percentage of the population being French. The locals are welcoming, friendly and polite.
