The holiday home is located in Payzac in the north of the Dordogne on the river Auvézère. You can go shopping in Payzac (2 bakeries, a liquor store, 2 hairdressers, the bank, post office and supermarket), or in Glandon (10km); there is a really fantastic supermarket. The small town of St. Yrieix la Perche (12 km) is also very nice. There is a cinema, theater, shops, 2x weekly market and a very nice flea market in August. Nice villages with castles, squares and market places where regional products are sold. In summer there are of course parties and flea markets such as in Ségur le Chateau (8km): the feast of the pigs with the black ass! Brantôme is called the Venice of Perigord and is worth a visit, as is the picturesque Perigueux. A day at Terrasson is also a good idea: an old town with a beautiful garden: Jardin d'Imaginaire and then in the afternoon a delicious lunch on the terrace of the Table d'Erignac in Hautefort! (and that for a very affordable price!)
Activities
A wooded agricultural area, where you can cycle and walk. You can swim, canoe or fish in the river Auvézère (500 m from the house) or spend an afternoon lazing on the beach of the Lac de Rouffiac (6 km).
