3 Km north of Gourdon you will find the caves of Cougnac with prehistoric paintings. Along an underground river there are three halls with lots of stalagtites. In the column hall one sees a number of grown together stalagmites and stalagtites. Another hall contains hundreds of paintings of animals (mammoths, goats, giant deer among other things), but also human beings perforated by arrows. The cave contains 60 diagrams of animals, 50 outlines of hands and 3 drawings of humans. Open daily between beginning of April and end of October.
