Golf and golf courses in the Dordogne, Golf and golf courses in the Corrèze and Golf and golf courses in the Lot
The Dordogne, the Corrèze and the Lot are a paradise for golfers. There are many golf courses and the gently rolling terrain is ideal for the most beautiful golf courses. No hurry, no stress. Reservations are not always necessary but advisable. Even golfers without a course qualification are often admitted. Most golf courses do not ask for your handicap card.
Difference in golf courses
There are flat courses (Lolivarie, Saltgourde - Périgueux, La Forge, Longveau, Les Merles) - gently rolling courses (La Porcelaine, Marterie, Chateau des Vigiers, Essendiéras, Planchetorte-Brive) - medium rolling courses (Coiroux-Aubazine, Rochebois, Montal) and strongly sloping courses (Souillac). Experienced golfers can play almost all courses without a golf buggy. For Souillac we advice to rent a golf buggy. In particular, the paths between the different holes are very steep.
Green fees and rates
The difference between green fees is huge. This depends on the number of holes and also if a golf course is subsidized . Coiroux – Aubazine ist the best performer in terms of price and quality. The most expensive golf courses are La Porcelaine, Chateau des Vigiers and Rochebois. But these are situated on top location.
French golf courses often offer reduced rates for a couple (male-female). Ask for the "tarif pour un couple". Have you found your favorite golf course, we advise you to buy a “carnet”, a booklet with 5 or 10 greenfees. Green fees are 10 to 15% lower and in the weekends even more. If you live (semi) permanently in the area and you have a second house, certain golf courses offer a " abonnement résidence secondaire ". Also deeply discounted. Sometimes there are combination booklets for different golf courses. (i.e. in the Corrèze).
